Top of the list, https://www.jeune-jolie.com/ on State street has received a Michelin star.  This has to be on my list.  It’s hard to add anything beyond the Michelin note on this venue.

Very good service, very good food is https://vigiluccis.com/ There are three locations nearby, you want the Carlsbad BLVD Vigiluccis Steakhouse.  This establishment has three main features, and one is the location, it is two small blocks south. Any ambulatory person can easily walk there and back.  Second is that it is on the beach with great views.  In your case it is the same view you already have from the living room and the master bedroom.  If you were not staying where you were, you would find the views spectacular.  Third you can always expect a great service from the waitstaff and kitchen.  Its all top notch.

https://dinisbistro.com/ is the next closest place north.  We often walk that too, it’s a bit farther and depending on your opinion it is a short walk or maybe just too long in the wrong shoes. This is part of a hotel and many people like it.  Its bistro, its beachy.

Hands down my own favorites is https://www.thisiscampfire.com/  Campfire is so unusual.  The cuisine is unique and extra ordinary.  They are known for their bar and cocktails with exceptional presentation.  A desert that you might not think is too exciting is their smores.  In spite of your expectation, it’s a great finish.  Fun presentation, along with homemade marshmallow and chocolate, its more than worthwhile.  This is the same ownership as Jeune and Jolie from above.

https://paoncarlsbad.com/ has a very nice courtyard for dining and a quiet elegant ambiance.

http://www.cicciottis.com/ is a nice streetside Italian eatery.  Central to activity and the hustle of downtown

https://norterestaurant.com/ is a typical Mexican food menu.   Here I really like the patio.

https://www.264fresco.com/ is also very nice.  Indoor and outdoor dining, clean newer place, you cant go wrong here.

For a busy new place on Carlsbad Blvd, https://lepapagayocarlsbad.com/ is a Spanish style restaurant.

More casual

https://www.rooseveltpizzeria.com/ has great food, and I have a connection to the owner Tracy.  I like her, I like her staff, I like the food.

http://pollosmaria.com/  is something between fast food and a restaurant.  Great Mexican style fast order up service, great food quality, eat it there or bring it back.

https://www.harborfishcafe.com/ outdoor on the boardwalk, casual, close fun especially for lunch.  The fish and chips are hard to beat.

For Treats.

Best kept secret is Gelato Love   gelato.love  It’s in a center, not so crowded and just top quality.  Sicilian Love is a truly wonderful Pistachio treat.  Also try Handel's Homemade Ice Cream   2825 State St.. ALWAYS has a line, but it goes quickly, do not be discouraged.  You really only need a single scoop.  It’s a good price and a FANTASTIC quality creamery.

 

The Goods, thegoodsdoughnuts.com on State street is wonderful.  Awarded best donut shop and best donut for their brown butter donut.  Closed Monday.

 

Breakfast

Just north is https://beachbreakcafe.net/ this is the classic giant home cooked breakfast place.  Pancakes, chicken fried steak, omelets, hash browns that spill over the edge of the plate.
